When did you start DJing/producing? What sounds or scenes shaped your taste early on? What keeps you coming back to sound as a medium?
I started in the summer of 2024 after I had an abortion. Being so painfully close to life and death made me desperate to pursue my dream of being a facilitator of the rave which had been brewing for a few years. The scene that shaped me the most by far is the underground rave scene in grand rapids. True freaks out there. I keep coming back because I am a musician and always have been. It’s in my blood. When my extended family gets together we can sing hymns as beautifully as any choir. Best feeling in the world.
What helps you get into a creative headspace? What gets in the way?
Listening to music! Mental health issues. I struggle with depression.
What does “a safer dancefloor” actually mean to you (before, during, after the night)?
Maybe an unpopular opinion but I prefer dancefloors that are channeling psychedelics like mushrooms, acid and molly. I dislike cocaine & ketamine. Otherwise, I recommend everyone practice setting boundaries, and a nice door policy to keep posers out. LOL kidding sorta
Where do you see electronic music helping people move through something?
Very clearly. It's somatic healing in the best way. Shaking butt and smiling at friends and strangers makes you realize you are more than yourself. Good music will literally have you shedding your ego like a snake. It connects us all to the divine source.
