  1. What are your “tells” behind the decks — what makes a set feel like you?

I love vocal hooks/chops and pop edits. Sometimes I feel insecure about this because I worry I won't be taken seriously in this underground techno scene but whatever, sue me! I like to sing along and so do the people!

  2. What do you pay the most attention to while you’re mixing?

I'm always paying attention to the energy of the crowd, as well as my own energy. If I ever get too stressed, I ask myself, "What do I actually want to listen to right now?" and that might mean freestyling the rest of my set, which is honestly the most fun part.

  3. What does the queer & FLINTA* music community mean to you?

The queer and FLINTA* music community here in Brooklyn is the reason I am a DJ. It was through collectives like she.they.dj, Swallowed open decks, Find Your Niche, just to name a few, that I was given a safe space to learn something new without judgment, and instead given so much support and so many platforms. I feel like the luckiest DJ ever, to be learning and growing in this community. It gives me the confidence to dream big!

  4. How do you think about the role your work plays in the scene—socially, culturally, or politically?

I believe the dance floor is a place of refuge, and the DJ is a modern spiritual leader. The rave is a place to release heavy emotions through movement and to recharge on the good vibrations from the music and community. As a DJ, I hope to help people, whether that's creating small moments of fun and freedom or bigger moments of healing and release. Every bit of it is important.
